Default Prague taxi

Prague taxi.
Have you heard the deterrent information about Prague taxi mafia? Not
so bad if you know how to deal with them!
The most expensive are the taxis picked up from the street. If you
need to use it, ask the driver beforehand to switch on taximeter and
give you the bill. In Czech language: Prosim taximetr (Please
taxameter), Prosim ucet (Please the bill) Taxis ordered through the
Dispatcher are cheaper tel. 14 0 14 or 14 0 30. The maximum price for
taxi (year 2003) is: Waiting 1 minute …4 CZK, Fare for 1 km …22 CZK.
The fare must be marked in the car.

If you insist on your private taxi. There is also the travel agency
AVE in the arrival hall. You can pay there the real price for a taxi,
you get a voucher that you give to taxi driver (so he cannot rip you
off). The price is about 650 CZK =28 US.

You can use the public transport service 12 CZK or company CEDAZ
transport. Tourist buses from 6:00 to 21:00 from the Airport to the
centre (square of Republic) price is 90,- CZK pro person.
More comfortable is CEDAZ collective taxi minibuses from the airport
to hotels and the price for couple or family is 390,- CZK = 15 US.
Tickets at the arrival hall in Prague.

If you need any help, feel free to write me on: . I
am a local Prague guide Sarka. I have many friends and satisfied
clients all around the world. You can find references on me on
Internet message boards (Fodors.com, google groups, graffiti wall of
Rick Steves). By the way - Rick Steves was the most curious traveler I
have ever guided in Prague. More on info

I felt the best way to get taxis in Prague was to barter. Every time I
was too lazy to walk, I just asked several different cabbies how much
it would cost to get to A or B, and (naturally) took the cheapest
option. They mostly beat each others prices. It was very cheap if I
recall correctly...
