Manila Hotel Rates
I may be visiting Manila in late January or early Feb. When I last
stayed at the Swagman two years ago, it was starting to get a bad reputation, & run down as well. Can anyone advise of it's current condition, or suggest a better 3 1/2- 4 star hotel or pension. Preferably in or around Mabini or Makati area. If you have any idea of current accommodation rates that would be helpful. Thanks in advance. John L. |

I used to stay regularly at the Swagman, but only because the discount card I had for them made their rates slightly more competitive than the others. The rooms are not great, but ok, and the staff are generally friendly, although you could probably find better value elsewhere if you're paying their regular rates. Although I live in Manila, I can't think of any hotel that stands out as being exceptional in terms of value for money. You may want to check on Asia Travel's web site and pick one of the promotions they have there. http://www.asiatravel.com/philippines.html Chris |

Manila Hotel Rates
Thanks Chris, I'll have a look at the asiatravel site, or maybe have a
chat with my Filipina travel agent here in Brisbane. She is ex-Swagman & I think her sister still works there. I was a regular at the Swagman over a period of about 5 years & had a great time, mainly because of the friendly staff. I probably saw you there at some time. John L.
