Default Any reason to celebrate return home?

I've travelled around Asia for 5 years, returned "home" 1 year minus
two weeks. Things are fine, working now, rebuilding the life "home",
family kind and nice and understanding.

However, everyone now tells me that "surely you will celebrate your 1
year back home" and all I can do is sigh. I watch my travel photos and
read about travel and I sigh. In my mind I am back in India, back in
Pakistan, back in Indonesia, back in Thailand, back with that enormous
freedom. And all I can do is sigh and think about either slithing my
wrists or hitting the road again. Preferably the second of course

However, I experienced it took a tremendous effort to get back into
society. It took a lot of hard work and a big battle with bureaucracy
and I am scared to have to do it again one day. On the other hand, I
am dying to leave again.

Anyone ever been in the same situation? Thank you!

if you have returned to USA, i can identify completely. Same thing happened
to me in the 1970's after 3 years in Asia. I have gone back countless times.
It's pretty easy these days to return for 2-3 weeks at a time on regular
basis, and after all, it's usually better money and easier climate and
living here.
If you want to return to live permanently in Asia, all I can say is follow
your heart. Keep in mind, that travelling and settling down are two very
different experiences.
BTW, I plan to retire in only a few years and settle in India, but will
visit USA regularly. The truth is, I am American.
