'Cougars,' 'cubs' unwelcome on Carnival cruises
Cruise line rejects a singles travel group request to book 'cougar' theme
The Associated Press
updated 10:33 a.m. ET Jan. 12, 2010

MIAMI - Carnival Cruise Lines won't be sailing anymore with a boatload of
"cougars" and their willing prey.

The Miami-based company has turned down a request from a singles travel
group to book another cruise with the cougar theme. The term refers to
older women who date younger men.

The singles group says the ban is unfounded. They point to their first
cruise on Carnival's Elation in December that drew about 300 women and the
men they call "cubs."

Carnival says there were no problems with last month's trip, it's just a
business decision. They have no room for groups with that "theme."

Analysts say it's meant to protect Carnival's focus on family fun.

Party planners say they've had no trouble booking with rivals Norwegian and
Royal Caribbean.

Which puts the lie to the subject. It isn't on cruises in general; it's
on one specific cruise line. Doofus.

Actually, "cougars" are still welcome to prowl for "cubs", but one cruise
line won't allow a group booking for the purpose.

This is about a themed booking, not unlike a group of lesbians organizing
a lesbian cruise, or swingers organizing a swinging cruise. The activity
can/will still go on, just not with the full passenger list interested
in the specific form of lust.

The only reason they pulled the plug on it was because NAMBLA heard
about it and tried to book their own party...

The North American Marlon Brando Look Alikes?
Who could POSSIBLY object to them booking a cruise?

It is simply breathtaking to watch the glee and abandon with which
the liberal media and the Angry Left have been attempting to turn
our military victory in Iraq into a second Vietnam quagmire. Too bad
for them, it's failing.

Incorrect. Many "theme" cruises are large groups (maybe 200 cabins)
with special events that only group memebers can get into. Other
"theme" cruises are full boat cruises sponsored by the cruise line.
The third type isn't really a theme cruise. These are full boat
charters by a company that buys EVERY cabin and then sells them to
their clientel. At a monsterous mark up. An inside on next year's
Olivia cruise on HAL runs about $2000/person. Following week the same
category runs about $1100 a person. Apollo is even higher.

No cruise line will want a reputation of catering to older women.
