Default TKTS Theatre Ticket Booths in NYC

There is also a TKTS booth at South Street Seaport (near the Coach
handbag shop & Talbots) which replaced the TKTS which was in the foyer
of the World Trade Center. You can get tickets for matinees the day
before here, unlike the one at Times Square. Matinees are usually on
Wednesdays and often on Sundays. This booth is far quieter than the one
at Times Square and the wait times to buy tickets much, much shorter.
It's just little-known by most tourists who visit New York.

I've personally never had much luck with tickets at the New York TKTS
booths. In London I've always been able to get excellent seats within a
few feet of the stage. In NYC the TKTS-issued seats are normally poorly
situated, up in the "Gods" and never near the stage. It might be better
for 'off Broadway' shows but you will usually have to pay full price for
a decent seat at the popular shows, especially musicals.

I think a lot of the prime seats for Broadway shows are taken up by
hotel concierge services and businesses for corporate hospitality,
conventions etc. and the only time to get decent seats at cut price is
in Jan-Feb when everyone avoids freezing cold New York. You may have
better luck going directly to the theatre box office to see if there are
any 'returns' - usually on the day of the performance.

I recently went to see "The Boy from Oz" and Hugh Jackman is fantastic.
Also excellent performances by the actresses who played Judy Garland
(mirror image of her) and Liza Minelli. Wonderful entertainment.
