NYC Romantic Restaurants
I will be meeting my boyfriend in NYC this fall and I am looking for a
restaurant to have a romantic meal. I have read about several including Tavern on the Green, River Cafe in Brooklyn, Cirque 2000, etc. They all seem to be very nice, however I've heard that some restaurants in NY are becoming too touristy. I am not too concerned with the price; I'm willing to splurge for a night. Does anyone know about any of these restaurants or know of one that is very romantic and might not be in a guidebook? Thanks for your help! |

The Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory is right next to the River Cafe. What better
recommendation can one give? s "Emily" wrote in message ... I will be meeting my boyfriend in NYC this fall and I am looking for a restaurant to have a romantic meal. Thanks for your help! I needed a place to take my parents for their anniversary, and after much hunting, I settled on Cafe Rosso, in the West Village. It was fine for our purposes, not super-expensive, not cheap, but what is in NYC? Food was nicely polished Italian, fancy but not toooo trendy. It seemed quiet enough, but we were early and it was kind of empty. Probably a bit more romantic if you get there after dark. -- --- "Wake Up, Everybody."--McFadden/Whitehead/Carstarphen RIP John Whitehead 1948-2004 |

Thanks for your help! Zazarac House on Hudson St in the Village. It has a fireplace, enclosed sidewalk seating, mixed Cajun and All American cuisine. I like restaurants with sidewalk cafes, for me they have a cosmopolitan romantic feel. Greenwich Village has many. Also it's the home of Monte's a Village tradition in Italian eating. It's unpretentious and has those classic red checked table cloths and breadsticks that several chain Italian food places try to emulate. Stay away from Tavern On The Green, it's major touristy. There are a number of mid-priced to upscale restaurants at South Street Seaport. They are right on the river and most tourists don't go to them because they're more attracted to the food court. While Windows On The World can never be replaced there's Windows On New York. It has a nice selection, and a nice view of the city. -- ________ To email me, Edit "xt" from my email address. Brian M. Thanks for your help! The most romantic restaurant in Manhattan is probably Terrace in the Sky, at 119th Street and Morningside Avenue. It's a bit off the beaten path, but worth the trip to the Columbia University neighborhood. It's in the penthouse of the Butler Hall residence, and has 360 deg views of Manhattan, the Bronx, Queens and NJ. On some nights there is live entertainment, frequently a harpist or string quartet. The food is also excellent, among the tops in Manhattan. Larry |
