A senior mechanic for the US Continental airlines was questioned
Thursday in Paris over a metalstrip of one his company's planes that
allegedly brought down the Concorde that crashed in 2000, killing all
on board, French officials said.

Stanley Ford, a US citizen, supervised the installation of the
non-standard titanium strip that fell off a Continental DC-10, which
took off on the same runway as the Concorde.

The Concorde crashed shortly after its taking off from Paris
Charles de Gaulle airport on July 25, 2000, killing all 109 peopleon
board and four others on the ground.

According to French authorities, the metal strip punctured the Air
France Concorde's tyre and caused the explosion of fuel tank.

Ford was questioned by the French judge Christophe Regnard, whois
heading up the French inquiry. His subordinate, John Taylor, was to be
questioned Friday. Enditem
