Saw on the news about the 80 year old man,and the 3 crew members that
were hurt when the walkway from the ship collapsed from high winds in
spain. The man fell
from the walkwayand hit his headon the side of the ship, and the 3 crew
members jumped in to rescue him,He is in critical condition, and the crew
members are doing o.k. They were not seriously hurt, just hypothermia

If the walkway doesn't withstand winds of 110km/h, MSC shouldn't have let
its passengers go ashore.

It wasn't the walkway that couldn't withstand the winds, it was the
docklines. They should have had wire cables or something stronger.

Those crew members are heros. God bless them.

And that's your opinion, so you're sticking with it?

And it was the lines holding the bow of the ship to the dock that
failed, NOT the walkway! When the ship was blown away from the dock,
the walkway was pulled away from the ship. It had no difficulty
withstanding the wind, and IT did not break. It fell from the ship
because the ship moved away from the dock at the point where the
walkway entered the ship! As for the lines snapping, the PORT is
taking the blame! At least watch the video and SEE the whole accident
happen before picking on the wrong thing as if it were something that
MSC could have predicted, or known in advance would occur. Perhaps you
think they should rely on palm reading or astrology?

Watch the video again in slow motion.

The bollards on the pier broke loose from the piers. That is why the port
is taking responsibility... it was the failure of the pier construction.
The lines never snapped.

Sadly, this is one case where the wind in Spain did not blow mainly on
the plane.
