Dubrovnik hints & tips?

Any personal hints & tips out there re staying within the old town of
Dubrovnik for a couple of weeks (maybe May) and Croatia/Bosnia/
Montenegro experiences within a day's radius?
We have the usual guide book stuff, but would appreciate any more
personal views.

Must see places are.

Kotor/Cetinje
Mostar
Sarajevo
Split/Trogir
and Plitvicka

and obviously the stunning costal scenery, but much of the rest is overrated
by the guide books IMHO

Cetinje-Cekanje-Kotor is a nice road. Not very fast.
