European River Cruises
Will there be more water at night?
We were there when the rivers were too high, and they used busses to get you to the places the ship couldn't get to, changed some stops around, etc. They will change the schedule around as necessary, and if they only travel at night that isn't the worst thing, more time in the stops. It was nice to stop in places that were not planned, added to the local experience. "Dick M." wrote in message news:vANNb.3541$AA6.3038@fed1read03... Actually, I thought they were only going to travel during the day, which
would give less useful time at the stops. Dick ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~ "Mike Cordelli" wrote Will there be more water at night? It's been a mix on the ships we were on. The advantage of traveling in say
the morning is you get to enjoy the scenery as it goes by, the castles, the vineyards, going through the locks, etc. Another plus, and it's a huge plus to me, is that you stay in the port city past six at night. You can catch a concert, dinner in town, drinks and dessert, whatever you wanted. You didn't have to rush back all the time because it was time to move on to the next stop. For example, when we were on the Rhine, we had dinner (we being most of the ship) in Rudesheim in a local restaurant, local wine, lots of fun, and the ship didn't leave until the next morning. In Colonge you get to see the city at night, get to see the cathedral all lit up, things like that you couldn't do if you had to be back on by six. I am very interested in river cruises or barges in Europe. What company did
you use? Laura "Mike Cordelli" wrote in message news It's been a mix on the ships we were on. Uniworld, December 2002 for the christmas cruise, and then again last summer
for the south of france wine tours. It was great, we were in the vineyards just two days before they started picking the grapes. "Timmer" wrote in message ...
