Default PDX security checkpoint express lane

Portland, OR (PDX) airport has an express lane security checkpoint.

To use it, you show a frequent flyer card. An ordinary Southwest
Rapid Rewards card lets you in. Since everyone can sign up for
Southwest Rapid Rewards, wouldn't everyone be able to use the express
lane? (The sign did not say that your boarding pass had to match
the frequent flyer card.)

I use that airport quite a bit. Although I have a frequent flyer card on
another airline, the security line there is never more that a 10-15 minute
wait anyway, at least in my experience. Often there's no wait at all, and
they let others with no card use the express lane.

PDX is probably my favorite airport since it's quick an easy to check in and
go throught security. They have a light rail that connects the airport with
the city, and it only costs $1.60, no matter where you want to go. The
parking shuttles are efficient as well, and the airport is away from most of
the traffic problems (i.e. Interstate Bridge, 217, Banfield/I-5 interchange,
Terwilliger Curves etc). Often I use PDX instead of SEA, even though PDX is
farther away from my house. Sometimes there are more available cheap seats
to be had there too.

Yes, very convenient (but the fare is now $1.95 for an all-zone ticket).

Sorry, my mistake. It does cost me $1.60 from my vacation home near
downtown. Still, $1.95 is a great deal considering you can connect to the
bus lines and get to just about anywhere you want in the greater PDX area.
