Default seawing cruise cancelled very disappointed

Hi looking for some advise, I have just had a phone call off my travel agent
to say the cruise we were going on (family of 4) has been cancelled today.
We should have been going on April 4th for two weeks. The reason being told
is that
the owner wont pay for the docking fees at Malta and Airtours are not
responsible. We can only travel 2/3/4/5 th April due to booked holiday time
that is unmoveable & kids holidays from school. They have nothing to replace
the holiday with except ones that will cost us over £1400 more or a trip to
Spain that is a place we are not very keen on or very warm at the time of
year. We can have our money back and £80 compensation. I am really upset and
not sure what to do as this was booked a while ago and lots of things like
kennels, house minders & taxies sorted. I always thought they had to replace
a holiday if they left it this late to cancel. Can anyone give me any advise
as they want an answer by 10am tomorrow.
Sorry to go on but I am so disappointed.
Mooie

Not necessarily. If you look at your contract it probably states something
along the lines of "we reserved the right to cancel the sailing for any reason
with the only compensation due being a full refund of the cruise fare." They'll
probably tell you that the 80 pounds is going WAY over and above what you're
actually due according to the contract. It sucks but the contract is probably
pretty close to bullet-proof although with the right lawyer anything is
possible.
