Accommodation in Auckland City
In message , Alan S
writes "one to avoid" would have to be the understatement of the year, based on those reviews:-) One minor aside - if you are used to US or Australian hotels/motels, don't presume that air-conditioning is standard in New Zealand accommodation. We stayed in five different ones last year ranging from 2.5* to 4* - only two had aircon. If you're going in mid-summer, it's worth checking with them before booking. If not, don't worry about it. It's not a problem really as I'm going in about 2 weeks (disorganised, I know). Although, assuming I stay a while it might be more of an issue later, but hopefully I won't still be in hotels by then. Thanks, -- Jeffrey Spoon |

Accommodation in Auckland City
In message om,
gregdane writes The Waldorff Bankside is very nice, with studio or 1BR choices at under NZ$100, I believe. And, I'm a little prejudiced- the two lovely girls that manage it were our bridesmaids and most wonderful! At least check it out and see if it would work for you. Cheers, Greg and Dane This looks very nice and is actually cheaper than Aspen House, but still a bit pricey for me. I'm looking at City Lodge and the Columbard tower. The latter is a bit frustrating because they don't give you the actual rate you'll pay upfront. Cheers, -- Jeffrey Spoon |

Cheers, Well try this one then. http://www.kiwihotel.co.nz/queenst.html It used to be good value, but it's a long time since I last stayed there. Rates still seem reasonable - but not sure about anything else . I still think Columbard might be hard to beat. Surely they can give you a price? |
