Default Nairobi airfare from Chicago

I'm traveling to Kenya this November or December and am starting to
look for plane tix now. I'm going to look for a little while to try to
find the best price. Does anyone know what airfare prices I should
consider good?

Probably around $1200. If you can't find anything decent, get a cheap
flight to London and then fly from there to Nairobi.

Thanks. Do you mean before or after the $300 worth of taxes are
slapped on? I notice that airfare sights sometimes wait to surprise
you with taxes until you're ready to pay...

Before.

I wouldn't recommend using airfare sites like Expedia or Travelocity
for a flight to Nairobi. Instead, check out the Chicago Sun-Times
sunday travel section, and look for small box ads that only list cities
(or airport codes) and prices. Those usually have the cheapest fares
for flights to Africa, Asia, and Latin America.

As far as flying to England first, this British agency has London to
Nairobi for 343 pounds (US $615):

I haven't looked at that site, but it may be relevant to the OP to
know that we 9brits) generally have much lower carry-on baggage
allowances than US carriers (usually 5kg - 7 kg depending on airline,
maybe about 12 - 16lbs, my mental arithmetic isn't what it should be:
1kg - 2.2. lbs). I think our hold allowances might be lower too.

If that's a concern, check carefully! Many US travellers seem to need
to travel with a lot of stuff, and it might be a shock...

Slainte
