Its four for two group ticket (@ £22 single / £43 return) is only applicable to 4 ADULTS only. If you have 2 adults and 2 kids (as is my case) you pay 50% more. (can't figure that out - kids in the uk must have bigger butts and carry more luggage than adults). Anyway. Obviously they are trying to restrict families from using the group tickets. are you sure that they don't allow kids on the ticket -- most places, you can use adult tickets for kids -- but sometimes there are cheap kid tickets -- are people really restricted from using a 4 person ticket with kids? [or is that they make clear that 4 adults are covered] Quote from http://www.gatwickexpress.com: 1. What is the four for two ticket? The four for two is a new ticket which allows four adults ... [...] 4. How many people can travel on a four for two ticket? Four adults. But you could have looked it up yourself. you can never avoid being snotty when the opportunity presents itself but of course, what is written down doesn't answer my question -- which is 'what is the practice?' have you EVER seen a situation where a child was not admitted to anything on an adult ticket? Is someone finding that their children are turned away on this train line when included as part of 4 on this ticket? to restate -- sometimes there are child tickets which are cheaper than adult tickets -- and adults can't use those when there are adult tickets, children can virtually always use those as well although it may be more expensive Anyone have an actual first person example of a child being denied transport on an adult ticket anywhere in Britain, in the world? I have sometimes seen TWO children being carried on ONE adult ticket, but this has no bearing on the use of group tickets on Gatwick Express. Each ticket type has its own terms and conditions, and in this instance they specifically state that children CANNOT be carried on this type of tickets: "9. Can two adults and two children travel on a four for two ticket? No, all party members must be over 15 years of age." Alec THAT is perfectly clear then. A stated no child policy is different from a simple statement that a ticket allows 'four adults' so 'nevermind' |
