Honeymoon in Europe
In article ,
Brownz wrote: "malval" wrote in message . com... I haven't been to Europe so I need a lot of insight. We want something romantic of course. We love water and beaches so we want to be near the beach areas during some of the vacation although April may be to cool for swimming. We want good nightlife, shopping, food, and tourist sights. We have it narrowed to Paris, Nice, Rome, Venice, Florence, Portofino, with some visits to the Italian and French Riviera. I'm thinking we may dump the Italian Riveria and Portofino and do the Amalfi Coast and Positano only because we are going in April and it may be warmer in Positano. We need to narrow it down further so we can just relax without too much on the itinerary. Let me know what you would recommend. Grimsby/Cleethorpes in April is more romantic than all the destinations you mention put together...... ;-) I was in London last April for 1 week and came home with a sunburn (and I live in Arizona). --mikeb |

I second the idea of a really nice cruise - like Silversea or Seabourne - small, intimate. Get a veranda cabin, pack & unpack only once, enjoy the nightlife, you may be some of the youngest on board, but that's ok, enjoy the spa, covered pools, jacuzzis, casino, dine alone by candlelight - you'll have a wonderful time. I third the idea. Seabourne or Silversea going to be $$$$ even if you get fantastic discounts. The mainline US cruises RCI, CCL, NCL wont be in Mediterrainean until end of April, probaly Celebrity Galaxy in E. Mediterranean and Princess may have a ship there, and/or maybe HAL. If you are on the youthful side of 35 consider the European lines, Costa Atlantica, Costa Classica, European Vision. Be sure to get a balcony (or mini-suite as called on the European lines). Main complaints for European lines are smoke, multiple language messages, and lack of respect for lines. --mikeb |

Well worth the extra $$ & not get get nickel & dimed constantly for drinks, tips, etc. Much nicer way to spend a honeymoon! Uh, just to understand the difference in pricing. RCI, CCL, NCL going to be about $100.00/per person per day for outside cabin (cruise only, inclusive of port fees) after discounts (another $10.00 per person/day for tips). Silversea, Seabourne, Raddisson over 2x that figure. --mikeb |
