Default Volterra by public transportation

We are planning a trip to Italy in May and will be visiting Volterra by
public transportation (departing from Florence).

I found two possible routes so far. Would you recommend one route over
the other? Also...It was hard to find information on this, so if
anyone could let me know if our plans are accurate it would be greatly
appreciated.

route 1:
Take the train from Florence to Saline di Volterra station, then a
local CPT bus to Volterra (Piazza Martiri station). Also, do the CPT
buses run on Sundays?

route 2:
SITA bus from Florence to Volterra. Does this go directly into the
center of volterra, or is there a local bus connection?

Thanks!
