Default St. Lucia

Hello all,

Been a while since I have posted in any Newsgroups. Hopefully this finds
everyone well. I have a question about St. Lucia. My wife and I are
looking to go somewhere different in the Caribbean. We have been to Jamaica
a few times, having hit Ocho Rios once and Negril twice. We have stayed at
The Grand Lido and Couples Negril in Negril and Couples Ocho Rios in, you
guessed it, Ocho Rios. We have heard that St. Lucia is awesome, but wanted
to get any feedback we can from people who might have already been there.
We are looking at hitting the Sandals all inclusive resorts, which is also a
first for us. I have always heard good things about them, but anyone also
have experience with the Sandals organization?

The resorts we are looking at staying at are Sandals Grande St. Lucian:
http://www.sandals.com/main/grande/gl-home.cfm and Sandals St. Lucia
Regency: http://www.sandals.com/main/lucia/lu-home.cfm. We are leaning
towards the Sandals Grande, as neither my wife nor I golf. Both of these
resorts look great, but we are hoping to go somewhere with people more our
age, and where the nightlife is fun. We also want to get off the resort and
see the sights. Anyone know how safe St. Lucia is? The last time we were
in Jamaica things seemed a little shaky. Might have been because we just
went to war with Iraq and most of the people we spoke with were pretty upset
about it. Anyway, we want to get off the resort if possible, so the resort
with the most to offer outside of the premises might also be a winner. I
will leave it here as I have managed to ramble on long enough. I appreciate
any help or feedback anyone can give me.

Thanks

Rob

Negril is the finest beach that I've ever
enjoyed.

My wife and I spent 12 days at the Regency
several years back. We also ate one meal at
the Grande. We don't golf either.
The Regency is a spectacular facility.
I was unimpressed with the beach, which for
me has become the most important factor.
The Grande seemed more cozy, yet wasn't as
new or glamorous as the Regency.

St. Lucia is beautiful. Definitely take a
boat trip(or scuba) down the coast to see
the Pitons.

There's always Anse Chastanet(ansachastanet.com).
Then again, try Jalousie.

Hi Shorn,

We asked a similar set of questions a few years ago about St. Lucia and
other islands where you could get off the resorts and meet the residents of
the islands and take in some sights and variety of dining.

People hemmed and hawed and finally many recommended that we check out St.
Martin instead. Few resorts there even offer all-inclusive because of the
multitude of find dining establishments offered by the local villages. The
island seems to lend itself to exploration and the combination of French,
Dutch and Island culture give you a wide variety of dining options. We have
gone there 4 years and feel like we have barely scratched the surface of the
island.
