Correct but UK and mainland Europe have different shaped plugs. I travel
with an assortment of converters and adaptors that takes care of all
situations. It's also possible to buy a universal adaptor/converter.
As others have stated, however, laptops adapt themselves to different
power supplies, all you need is a plug that accepts your local (US?)
laptop plug at one end and plugs into a French socket at the other.
