Of course, the whole concept of national parks is largely
self-defeating. The very nature that one visits to enjoy is largely ruined by the hordes of tourists, you, yourself, of course being one. In the US, placing a label of national park on a place largely dooms being able to enjoy it as nature, or at least the easily accessible parts. I often find it can be much more enjoyable to visit a nearby national forest or BLM land and have the place to yourself and be just (or almost) as scenic. And of course, if you really want to see 'nature in the raw' you should visit places where if you make misjudgements it can place your life in jeopardy. George |
