Default Locking Luggage - cable ties question

I know someone is going to say the opposite but, I seriously doubt if the
guys that are going to take the time to rummage through my bag in a air
terminal would want my old shoes or suit jacket. If they do want to look
through my bag, a small lock or cable tie isn't going to stop anyone.

I'd really like to know what valuables everyone is carrying in their

checked
luggage that make them have lock or cable tie their bags. All of our

"good
stuff" goes with us at all times - jewelry, camera, cash, liquor, etc.

What
else is left but shirts, socks & underwear so why bother to even lock

the
bag? If anyone wants to get in the bag they'll just snip the lock

anyway.

Hey Rich,
Spoken like a man! ;-) How about all the formal attire for everyone and

the
duzo pairs of shoes, not to mention the semi-formal nights depending on

the
cruise line and length of cruise?

Default Locking Luggage

We flew out of Fairbanks recently, and they required us to remove the locks
before checking bags. When we got them back the screeners had sealed the
bags with plastic ties after searching them. The ties were the type that
had to be cut off. I was unhappy to have to check unlocked bags, but
somewhat mollified by their sealing them after searching them.

Default Locking Luggage - cable ties question

Answer me one thing....What good does it do to file a complaint after
discovering something is missing?? Do you get reimbursed?

Hans is still fuming about his electric shaver, stolen from our small
toiletries case at an airport back in the mid '90s. He's used cable
ties since then.
