HK at Chinese New Year
Having never travelled to Asia, I was wondering about travel to Hong
Kong just after Chinese New Year. What's HK like around CNY? I gather the shops shut only for a couple of days, but how long does it take before life returns to normal? I hear that the border crossings are a shocker around that time, so if I were to go into China (either through Lo Wu to Shenzhen or by train to Guangzhou) how long is it before the crowd levels back into HK tend to dissipate? Is it only after the long weekend or after the whole 15-day festival? Or longer? |

They do close for a few days, including most eating outlets, but perhaps not those in good hotels. Some close for two days, some three, but I am not up to date on this. Lions |
