Default Question Oceania Cruises

My wife and I are sailing on the Insignia in January and we were wondering
about how people dress for dinner on Oceania ships.

The brochures and the DVD show men in sports jackets without ties and women
in informal dresses. We've sailed on other cruise lines, though, on which
some of the couples dressed much fancier than the cruise line suggested in
its advance materials.

So, if anybody has sailed with Oceania, how did passengers generally dress in
the evenings? Is a tie necessary? Is a sport jacket okay, or should I bring a
suit? Should my wife pack a couple of fancy dresses? Or are passengers
typically dressing the way the photos in the brochures show them?

Thanks in advance for your feedback,

David

Sport coat only and informal dresses are just fine. Many people don't even
wear coats. Have fun as the atmosphere is relaxed.

We sailed on Insignia last year and very few people even bothered with sport
jackets. I wore a dark suit for the captain's welcome party, but some men
didn't even bother to wear a coat and tie at all. My typical dinner dress
was nice slacks and a short-sleeved sport shirt. My wife brought one nice
dress, but she wouldn't have had to.
As I remember, they preferred that you not come to the main dining room in
shorts and flip-flops, but that was about it.
Great ship, great service- enjoy.

Country Club Casual...
That's what the dress of the evening was when we sailed the Med and
these were "R" ships.
Working to get the wife to agree to another Med cruise for her next
birthday, and as much as we love RCCL and Brilliance, we just might go
for the intimacy of our old "Renissance" ship.

On Regatta in the Caribbean, the Oceania brochure pictures ring true. For
men it was a collared shirt and sport jacket, for women a nice dress or
pants & top. I don't think we saw a tie and/or suit the whole ten days.
Relaxed. Enjoy!

Travelled on the Regatta through the panama last spring. Dress was similar
to brochure. Collared shirts and sports jacket were more than acceptable.
Had a tie or two but don't remember wearing them. Most women wore pants or
dresses. The occaisonal person wore suits but i thoughttheywere
overdressed.

enjoy you trip on oceania
