Default Budget accomodations London

We recently returned from a visit to London and France (Brittany), we
stayed 5 nights in London and stayed in 2 different places, very
affordable and very nice, centrally located.

The first was the Park International Hotel,
http://www.parkinternationalhotel.com/, their rates they publish at
the desk are quite high, I think starting at 150 pounds, however by
booking online, on their website, (online specials) I was able to book
2 nights with a king size bed for around 42 pounds each night, with
taxes this came to about 51 pounds. The rooms were very clean, and
well taken care of, and the bathrooms as well. Both rooms had private
bathrooms with a full bathtub etc....

Then we stayed in a London flat for 3 nights at Marble Arch, also a
great place, there were 4 beds and it was a one bedroom apt. I would
highly recommend this if you want to save money on eating out. There
was a kitchen (no oven) but a hot plate and fridge, sink etc... All
the cooking stuff you need.

You have to rent linens if you want them but we paid 65 pounds/night
taxes included.

Are the rates you quote per person? or per room?

Where was this you saw where taxes were not included in the price? Was it a
foreign only interface or one intended for UK customers? Did they clearly
state the tax inclusive price as the main figure or exclusive price?

I ask because it's illegal to state a price without tax in the UK (for when
dealing with customers as opposed to other businesses)

4 of us (3 adults, 1 child) stayed in this very same apartment in August
2001, and I would also highly recommend it (I picked it from somebody else's
recommendation on this newsgroup). It was so central and convenient, shops
close by, and my Dad was not able for long days, so we could go back during
the day very easily for 2 hours or so, (better still sometimes we parked
him, and went back to the nearby shops). Price was the same in 2001, Stg £65
per night for apartment, so for 4 of us this worked out well pricewise as
well as convenient.
