Default Pt Everglades--Princess embarkation question

Facts:

Port Port Everglades (Ft Lauderdale)

Ship Sun Princess

Other ships

in port None

Date March 8, 2006

Princess quote: "Embarkation will begin at 1:00 pm."

Question: Is this cast in stone?

I have read this for other cruises and cruise lines, but in practice, we
have arrived about 11 am, checked in, and then were allowed to board about
12 noon.

Default Pt Everglades--Princess embarkation question

We did the Sun at Christmas (review posted here 2/19). Embarkation may begin
earlier than the stated time, but it all depends on how timely they are with
disembarkation of the previous cruise. They were late the day we arrived
(due to port facility fault), and I have read a fair number of other reviews
that mentioned late issues; OTOH, I have read a good number of reviews
indicating all ran smoothly, thus enabling early embarkation.

So, the answer is, "it depends." Not much help, I know!

Have a wonderful cruise!

As usual, there's no real way of knowing. Most people here can report
getting on before the official time, but there are plenty of reasons
for this to not happen. Getting there early just means you may have
to wait. But you may have to wait if you get there "on time" due to
the crowd ahead of you hoping to get in early.

We boarded the Star princess in Port Everglades at about 12:00 PM last week
& boarded immediately with only one couple standing in line in front of us.
Holland American must have had 300 people standing outside the terminal
waiting to get in at that time. (they must have had a problem since all the
other ships did not appear as crowded)
