It was easy to find them in Beijing and Shanghai, but how about Hong Kong? Any tips ? Expect to pay more like $35-40 US for your own room in the least expensive decent places. It's an expensive city, on a par with New York, London, or Tokyo. I liked the Wang Fat Hostel in Causeway Bay. Great location, right near the water and the subway, and only $35 US a night. |

Further to the above, I would be happy to pay US$35 to 45 - but do any of the places in this range offer courtesy airport pickups? |

Hostel/Hotel in Hong Kong ?
There is at least one airport bus that runs to Causeway Bay. I was
there 2 years ago and the new airport has plenty of airport buses going to almost everywhere, reasonably priced and clean. Cost US$1200 for 21 nights stay at a Causeway Bay residential apartment that was turned into a room rented hostel. It was a 3 person bed room with private bathroom. Really small room of less than 100 sq ft incl bathroom, Just enough space to put in 3 single beds and a small desk. Laundry and cleaning service is included but tips are welcomed. It's clean and comfortable if all you want is shelter for the night or some rest place. Remember it's the heart of Causeway Bay so expect to pay more for a decent place. Since I am going again in a week, I am booking a 3 star hotel that charged US$115 one night for a 2 bed room with one extra bed added. This is somewhere in North Point. Really close to Causeway Bay (5 mins by tram), more of a residential area and less crowded. |

Two single trips on the train to Kowloon are $180 or about $23 USD. The Airbus has a bunch of stops on each route so you may be able to avoid taxis entirely if you are not completely loaded down with bags such that a 10-15 minute walk would kill you. CX has a HKD 100 r/t special for the Airport Express |

Airbus stop is right on the corner near the Wang Fat Hostel
http://www.wangfathostel.com.hk/home_eng.php Note that if the hostel is full you will be moved to "relatives" rooms on other floors of the Apartment building where the Hostel is situated.
