Default Travel time Queenstown to Launceston Tasmania

I will be travelling by road from Queenstown to Launceston (Tasmania) in a
couple of weeks. Can someone please recommend the most direct route on
sealed roads for this journey and suggest how long this trip will take?

Thanks, Mark (Melbourne) mcl...AT...inbox...DOT...net

Quickest is to make your way to the north coast and then follow the
signs to
L.
If you turn off to go past Cradle Mountain then it is shorter but

takes
longer.

This route (Qeenstown to Launceston via the north coast) takes
approximately 4 hours 45 minutes according to the map supplied by the
Royal Automobile Club of Tasmania. Going via Cradle Mountain to
Sheffield then joining the Bass Highway north of Deloraine is more
direct in mileage but may not save any time because of the narrower
(more)winding roads.
