Default Coming to the Outer Banks?

If you're coming to the Outer Banks, you need Our Tour Guide! Our Tour
Guide offers a series of 3 self-guided audio tours on CD. Simply play
the CD in your car, and we'll take you on a tour that shows you the
Outer Banks of today, and the Outer Banks of 20, 50, even 100 years ago.
That Outer Banks is still here, if you know where to look.

Tour #1 covers the area from the village of Corolla to the Aycock Brown
Visitors' Center in Kitty Hawk. What is different about the plumbing in
the Whalehead Club? Where on the Outer Banks can you see effects of an
earthquake? Were there German spies on the Outer Banks prior to World
War 2? Take the tour and you'll know. Points of interest covered on the
first tour include the Whalehead Club, the Currituck Beach Lighthouse,
the Kill Devil Hills Lifesaving Station, the Wild Horse Sanctuary, the
old Navy Bombing Range, and more.

Tour #2 picks up at the Visitors' Center and takes you all the way to
Oregon Inlet. Why did the Wright Brothers choose to come to the Outer
Banks to make their historic flight? If they flew in Kitty Hawk, why is
the Wright Brothers National Memorial located in Kill Devil Hills? Just
exactly who was Aycock Brown? Take tour #2 and you'll have those
answers. Points of interest include the Kitty Hawk Lifesaving Station,
the Wright Brothers Memorial, a shipwreck you can see on dry land, and
the Bodie Island Lighthouse, among others.

Tour #3 covers all of Hatteras Island. How many villages on Hatteras
Island have had their names changed over the years? Why? What is a
"checkerboard crew"? What were the "Chicamacomico Races"? Where did the
Union Army have one of it's first victories in the Civil War? Why are
there British sailors buries on Hatteras and Ocracoke Islands? What are
some of the examples of the damage caused here by Hurricane Isabel? This
tour can help you find out! Points of interest we cover on this tour
include the Chicamacomico Lifesaving Station, the Cape Hatteras
Lighthouse, the British Cemetery, Buxton Woods Preserve, the old
Hatteras Weather Bureau, among others.

Each tour is designed to be taken at your own pace. You can complete
each tour in a couple of hours, or over the course of a couple of days
if you prefer. It's completely up to you.
