Midnatsol Electric Plugs
Can someone verify that the electric plug requirement for Norway is the
"French" type, two round prongs as shown on www.travel-images.com/electric-plugs.html ? I'll be taking battery chargers with me which will accommodate the voltage supplied in Norway, but need to take the proper plug converter along. |

I should mention that type c is the design I meant - I don't need the type F "Schuko" plug with ground connectors. |

I can't answer your question, but am wondering, where are you going in Norway? We're doing a sailing that goes to the Fjords and up to the North Cape in July. I've seen a number of Norway websites (like the one for The Flåm Railway) were you can contact them via e-mail.... that might be something for you to try. They might give you the answer to your question. --Tom |

The ship turns around after reaching Kirkenes, for a total cruise lasting 11 days. |

All we ran into were the "Plug Type F" or Schuko connectors. They're essentially similar except that the sockets are recessed and things like transformers or bulky adapters which have the two power pins sticking directly out of their housings won't work because the pins won't reach the sockets. The cheap adapters for two-prong US-style (Type A) plugs to the Type C plugs will reach into the recessed socket but I found that they usually didn't fit tightly, since the socket expects to receive a large round plug that provided the mechanical support. You might have to kludge up some sort of mechanical support to keep the plug in the socket. -- Bert Hyman St. Paul, MN |

My Norway experience (aside from a few days in Bergen) was on the Trollfjord, the Midnatsol's "sister" ship, on the Bergen-Bergen round trip in May/June of '07.
