Default Planning holidays in South Africa

I am in the planning stage for a SA holiday visiting Capetown, East coast,
Garden Route and Kruger/other park in the North.
I wonder when is the best time of the year for such an holiday. Traveling
from Italy
Thanks
Elio

Hi.

See www.southafricaguides.co.za/seasons.asp for more.

You'll find more about Cape Town and the Garden Route under EXPLORE -
Western Cape in the menu; Port Elizabeth and East London under EXPLORE
- Eastern Cape - Coastal region; Kruger National Park under EXPLORE -
Mpumalanga.

The site is far from finished but there's a lot of useful info.

Enjoy your visit.

Cheers.

The best time for travel here is the Spring and Autumn months with September
and October being the very best. The temperatures are more moderate then
and the rates then are generally a whole lot better. Rates can increase
considerably after the end of September. However, South Africa is a
beautiful country all through the year and whenever you decide to visit you
can be assured of a "super" holiday. It is a value for money destination
with SO MUCH to offer. If you need any help in arranging your holiday,
whatever it may be, just drop me a line.

Just back from 3 weeks driving from Cape Town to PE.
A magic time to be in SA.
Especially if you want to see whales!!
So, for me, September is best.
And the rates are great. And nowhere is over-crowded.
Weather also pretty good - but maybe a bit on the cool side for an Italian!!
:-))

Thanks to everyone who replied. It looks like september/october is the best
time to visit South Africa. I'm considering now to delay my visit there for
that time next year.

Glad to see that you enjoyed your holiday here. I agree September is a
really good time, more especially if you want to see the whales at their
best !! Where did you go whale watching ?
BTW this September was " unusually " cool. Would love to know where you
visited in Cape Town and how you travelled ie self-drive or
tour-guide....and any other impressions you had of the city and your time
here. We have just started a "Travel-arranging and Tour-guiding " service
to visitors to our country and would appreciate any input that will
contribute
to making it of the VERY BEST !! Naturally, input from those such as
yourself would be
valuable, indeed, and very welcome. Keen to hear from you or any others
who have visited South Africa.
