HAL Maasdam?

We are considering a cruise on HAL Maasdam.
We have read a lot of reviews and some are really bad.
i.e. bad food, bad beds, chipped furniture, casino closing down very early,
racing back to port and causing people to fall, few interesting activities,
sewage odors on lower levels and such.
But.... I also read that they refurbished spring 2006.
Has anyone cruised the Maasdam since then?

My wife Deborah and I were on the Maasdam in 2004 for a 7-day Canada/New
England cruise. We experienced none of what is described here, and if the
ship was even refurbished in 2006, then all your concerns should be put the
rest. We would not hesitate to sail on her again, even if she was not

My husband and I cruised on the Maasdam in December of 2004 out of
Norfolk. No problems were encountered except a late arrival back in to
Norfolk that necessitated an overnite stay.
