Delta Queen Adjusts Fall / Winter Cruises!
Hi Everyone,
I received this press release from The Delta Queen Steamboat Company and thought it would be of interest. If you have missed any of my news' postings, they are available on my web site. Best regards, Ray LIGHTHOUSE TRAVEL 800-719-9917 or 805-566-3905 http://www.lighthousetravel.com Delta Queen Steamboat Company Adjusts Late Fall / Winter Cruises For Delta Queen® And Mississippi Queen® September 13, 2005 Due to Hurricane Katrina and the resulting impact on the Greater New Orleans area it will be impossible to operate our authentic steamboats, Mississippi Queen and Delta Queen, on their regularly scheduled late fall and winter cruises this year as planned. Most of these trips traditionally feature New Orleans as one or both of their gateways at the beginning or end of the voyage. During mid to late November scheduled voyages that used New Orleans as a gateway will be changed to an alternate location. In most cases this will be Memphis. See below for the list of affected voyages in November. In addition we are working with various government authorities to make not only the American Queen but the Delta Queen and the Mississippi Queen available from December thru February in the overall relief efforts for the Gulf Coast region, especially greater New Orleans. DELTA QUEEN SCHEDULE CHANGES Schedule Changes for Late Fall Voyages 1. Delta Queen 12 day voyage # 744 Nov 3 to 15 - The 12 day voyage of the Delta Queen that departs Pittsburgh on November 3 will now arrive in Memphis at the end of the voyage on November 15 instead of New Orleans. In addition we have added the ports of Marietta, Henderson, Cincinnati, Cave In Rock, and New Madrid. These new ports will replace Natchez and Baton Rouge on this voyage. Delta Queen Reservations will assist in changing any air travel to accommodate this new arrival city. 2. Delta Queen 6 day voyage # 745 Nov 15 to 21 – Is chartered to the AAA organization. The revised schedule will be Memphis to Memphis with stops in Natchez, Vicksburg, and Helena and 2 “Steamboatin Days.” Passengers on this voyage will be contacted by AAA for any travel related questions. 3. Delta Queen 7 day voyage # 746 Nov 21 to 28 – The revised schedule will be Memphis to Memphis with stops in Vicksburg, Helena and a special 2 day overnight stop in Natchez Mississippi for expanded tour and land options which will include the St. Francisville area. Two “Steamboatin Days” will also be featured on this revised schedule. Delta Queen Reservations will assist in changing any air travel to accommodate the operation from and to Memphis. All Delta Queen Voyages beginning with November 28, 2005 through the December 28, 2005 departure are cancelled. The Delta Queen will resume service with the March 3, 2006 departure. MISSISSIPPI QUEEN SCHEDULE CHANGES Schedule Changes for Late Fall Voyages 1. Mississippi Queen 7 day voyage # 843 Nov 7 to 14 – This voyage will still leave from St. Louis as originally scheduled but will now arrive in Chattanooga instead of new Orleans on November 14. The ports will include Cape Girardeau, Savannah, Paducah, Florence AL., Decatur and a “Steamboatin Day”. The Delta Queen Reservations department will assist in changing any air travel to accommodate the operation from and to Chattanooga. 2. Mississippi Queen 7 day voyage # 844 Nov 14 to 21 – This voyage will now operate from Chattanooga to Nashville. The ports will include Decatur, Savannah, Paducah, and Dover plus two great “Steamboatin Days”. The Delta Queen Reservations department will assist in changing any air travel to accommodate the operation from Chattanooga and for disembarking passengers in Nashville. 3. Mississippi Queen 7 day voyage # 845 Nov 21 to 28 – This voyage will now operate from Nashville to Memphis. The ports will include Dover, Cave in Rock, Paducah, New Madrid plus a great “Steamboatin Day”. The Delta Queen Reservations department will assist in changing any air travel to accommodate the operation from Nashville and for disembarking passengers in Memphis. 4. Mississippi Queen 7 day voyage # 846 Nov 28 to Dec 5 – This voyage will now operate from Memphis to Memphis. The ports of call will include Vicksburg, Helena, and a special 2 day over night stay in Natchez that will feature expanded tour and land offerings including the St Francisville area as well as 2 great “Steamboatin Days”. All Mississippi Queen Voyages beginning with December 5, 2005 through the February 26, 2006 departure are cancelled. The Mississippi Queen will resume service with the March 4, 2006 departure. REFUND PROCEDUREFOR CANCELLED VOYAGES ONLY- All Mississippi Queen and Delta Queen Passengers on these cancelled cruises will be given full refunds for deposits and payments received. CONTRIBUTE YOUR REFUND TO THE RELIEF EFFORT - The Delta Queen Steamboat Company and its parent, The Delaware North Corp., have established a foundation for the benefit of all those with the Company in the Gulf Coast area who have been affected by Hurricane Katrina and its devastation. Any passenger or travel agent wishing to convert all or part of their refund to a contribution to this effort can do so. All such contributions are of course tax deductible. You do not have to call us to make the contribution. Please email your name and phone number to and we will call you to process. You may also call us at 800.543.1949 if you wish. The people of Delta Queen Steamboat Company appreciate your support and understanding during this difficult period. If you need to call us please be patient as we expect the phone lines to be very busy during this transition and rebooking period. Bruce Nierenberg President The Delta Queen Steamboat Company |
