Scotland- smoking ban from March 2006
to summarise- complete smoking ban for enclosed public spaces- including
pubs. I mention pubs, because there's a chance that the ban for England (which isn't going to come into full effect until a year or so later) may not include pubs that don't serve food. Still to be worked out though, and the Scottish news is good. I note, as a half Scot, half Norwegian that both countries will now have complete smoking bans. (Norway already has one.) http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/4635029.stm -- David Horne- www.davidhorne.net usenet (at) davidhorne (dot) co (dot) uk |

Yeah, but what about a ban on midges? Tobacco smoke discourages them. -- PB The return address has been MUNGED |

I remember both the smoke and the bites though. -- David Horne- www.davidhorne.net usenet (at) davidhorne (dot) co (dot) uk |

I can't say I spend much time in smoky pubs! It was mostly outdoors where I felt the wrath of the midges, and the many relatives puffing away commenting on how effective the smoke was at keeping them away. -- David Horne- www.davidhorne.net usenet (at) davidhorne (dot) co (dot) uk |

Something you have in common with midges. It was mostly outdoors where I felt the wrath of the midges, and the many relatives puffing away commenting on how effective the smoke was at keeping them away. From a distance, the midges saw a number of you -- food sources. The other midgemeals lit up, protected themselves, and in consequence you got your own and everybody else's midges. But you're less likely to get lung cancer, have a heart attack or stroke, or suffer from respiratory or circulation problems; you also have more money available to fund alternative vices (or less debt). It's worth being chewed up by midges for that. But it might not seem so at the time. -- PB The return address has been MUNGED |
