Hi,
Its sealed and a good open road.
If you stay on the correct side of the road and pay attention then you
shouldnt have any prangs on any corner,
let alone any blind one that may occur.
The terrain is fairly flat all the way.

Planning on driving between these two places next year.
Picking up and dropping off rental car in Alice Springs.
Is this a safe road to drive on. Are there many accidents
on this stretch of road.. No blind corners or bends that will put me
head on with a Bus or semi Trailer.

DON'T drive while too tired.
Try to avoid hitting wildlife, but DON'T kill yourself, or others, trying to
avoid small ones. Vehicles can be repaired easier.
In case you do roll the vehicle avoiding/hitting wildlife, or for any other
reason, ensure that you already have your seat belt on.
DON'T drink and drive.

Phewww!!!! Thats a tall order. But I will try my best to get to
Uluru to get there and back in one peice. Thanks for your advice.

The mountain range on the road down to Uluru is always a worry, hair pin
bends, ice and snow, no crash barriers to the vallies 000s of metres below.
Snow Kangaroos hopping everywhere ........... if the wildlife dont get you
the natives will.

Hmmmm, I had better use and armour plated 4WD. That should do the trick.
Do you recommend using chains on tyres for the snow and ice???
Or better still I will drive in the middle of summer, to avoid the ice
and snow.

And don't forget the drop bears crashing onto your head from the
80metre ghost gums.

It's the bunyips that really worry me! Make sure you avoid bunyip mating
season at all costs!

What about the Tasmanian tigers???

You're looking at a 6 hour drive. Stay on 4 to 87.
The shortcut is a winding road with a lot of turns
and not much in the way of shoulders.

When you get there, expect $300 to $500 a night for
lodging. Petro, food, and alcohol prices are high
too - so bring a lot of food and as much ale as you
can carry. Also bring 8 liters of water per person
just in case your car breaks down.

If you get stuck behind a bus, you can always pass
it on straight road. It's when the bus passes you,
that you'll have something to worry about.

If you are planning to camp overnight, expect to meet
dingos and roos searching for food as well as natives
searching for food and beer.

Uluru in the summer heat will give you a great idea
of how hot Hell is going to be.

Thanks mate, but camping is out for us. We are staying at the LOst Camel.

Actually, I'm going there next week and will be seeing another PhilD, my
Father, but I doubt that he's who you want either.
