Default single supplement

Talk to a TA. I went on the Zuiderdam last March as a solo cruiser and
didn't pay a single supplement. Trick is, I think, to be flexible as
far as hip and itinerary go. I gave my TA my preferences and she came
back with my best options. Also, booking closer to departure, when the
cruise line has an idea of how a cruise is selling and if it will sell
out, rather than well in advance when they're still trying to get the
most $$ they can from each cabin, could help. I booked in mid-January
for a mid-March cruise.

Also, booking closer to departure,

We added my MIL at the last minute. She only paid about 150. more for her
cabin than we did. Everyone had told me she would pay double.
