WOW what a turn around this is! Hi Sue, No, I was not surprised. When Vicki was passed over for the presidency, it was a foregone conclusion that she would leave at the first opportunity. Hi Ray...
While I am not saying you are wrong, I have to wonder why she would move sideways from a job where she was already so well respected and comfortable for the same job at Royal Caribbean, unless RC is thinking about making changes soon themselves and making her president. Everyone believes that at RCI Fain runs everything, it would seem to me she is leaving a place where she had autonomy and authority to go to a place where she could be second-guessed and out-voted on a regular basis - not only because the corporate personalities are different, but also because she is walking into a system that is pretty different and she didn't build it. Either they adapt to her or the other way around, and I just don't see RC adapting that readily. I just hope she didn't walk out in a huff on principle into a situation where she is actually worse off. It is Carnival Corp that has the reputation for lady CEOs (Cunard and Seabourn), not RCI - and that does lend some credence to the theory she was passed over, but it also says her chances of ever becoming a CEO were theoretically still better by sticking to Carnival. She could have possibly done a move to presidency of another of Carnival's Lines (they have more CEOs than RCI does). Who knows, maybe Cahill will end up hating his new job - doesn't appear likely, though. It is a shock - as if Dick Chaney (sorry for the lack of a better comparitive figure) not only quit as VP, but said he was going to the Democrat Party at the same time. In any case, this is all speculation which I am sure she and they completely hashed over before this decision was made. All we can do is wait and see what it means. |

I still stick by what I said, I was suprised she moved over to the
competition, Carnival has deeper pockets but RCCL is more innovative if you ask me, and maybe she just needed change, with all the change made at CCL maybe it was time. I think she will be good for RCCL though, Lisa Bauer was not liked much by her peers is the drifts I have been getting, and she is taking over that position as they moved Lisa and now I see why. they may say no that it was something they were doing but you just do not up and just leave, esp after all those years. I think Carnival made a mistake losing her, Will there be dancing waiters? I would like to see it again as the one that they do on RCCL O solo Mio is tired now and should be retired. NO PLEASE no booths in the dining room that is sooo tacky, its fine for Johnny rockets or a diner but not a formal dining room I had to read the letter from RCCL twice and the letter that Carnival sent agent twice to see if I was really seeing what I was seeing. IS Vickys Blog up still? |

Well, when I got the E-Mail my first thought was that the new management was
cleaning house and she had been fired. It makes sense that if she told them she was taking a position elsewhere in the industry that they would walk her out the door. She should have gone to NCL, they are going to need some help now that AA is back ........... Cal Ford Lido Deck Cruises In article , Susette says... Those kinds of companies that now own NCL are famous for cutting costs, tighter, and tighter and tighter... And the places you cut costs on a cruise are in food and service. They can't cut fuel costs, and the ships are already built... so go with people and food if you want to cut. So, why would she want to get involved with that kind of situation??? --Tom |

This is how MSC does it with their European destinations, time enough to get a picture from the deck and take a shore excursion, but not enough to dare venture out on your own. -- Joseph Coulter, cruises and vacations www.josephcoulter.com 877 832 2021 904 631 8863 cell |
