Default Just when you thought it was safe to get back on a China Airlines flight...

If you do the math on the Taiwan alcohol percentage versus the FAA test, it
would appear that in order to get to the Taiwan ceiling of .040, the pilot
would show an FAA blood alcohol percentage of .205!!! (.040/.017*.087) More
than twice the drunk driving limit for most US states!
Geez, a Taiwan pilot would have to be so drunk to reach the Taiwan alcohol
ceiling, he would not be able to walk!

"An airport security screener noticed the man, identified by the Federal
Aviation Administration as the plane's captain, smelled of alcohol,
prompting a breath test showing his blood alcohol content at 0.087 percent,
above state and FAA limits."
"By Taiwan's calculations, the pilot's blood alcohol content was at 0.017
percent, well below the FAA and Taiwan's ceiling of 0.040 percent"
