Default Portland Hotel suggestions

Hi folks-

I've always stayed at the Mallory Hotel when visiting Portland (Oregon)
and loved it. I understand it's been "refurbished" and is no longer the
lovely, funky, roomy, cheap place it used to be- and with such a
terrific location.

Can anyone suggest other hotels in Portland like that?

How about anything like the old Mallory in Seattle? Vancouver? Victoria?

thanks-

Susan

Well, I'm not sure of your budget, but you might look at the Marqueen in
Seattle and the Sylvia in Vancouver. Neither of these is in downtown, The
former is near Seattle Center in an area with lots of shops and restaurants.
The Sylvia is on English Bay near Sydney Park, a scenic location but some
distance from downtown.

Another thought for Seattle is the Hotel Deca in the University District.
