Default Airline Passenger Data list

These are some of the "60 original items" the US wanted for passengers
arriving in the US. The US and the EU negotiated this list down
to 35 but examining the original is interesting.

Applying the new American law gathering this information will go into
force this Spring.

****

It can contain up to sixty fields, according to the companies and their
level of service:

1) identity of the traveler,
2) health,
3) paid price,
4) banking co-ordinates,
5) telephone number of a person to be contacted in the event of problem,
6) place of lodging in the country of destination,
7) name of people with whom the person travels.
9) In certain cases it might contain the history of the preceding voyages.
10) the choice of meal. A passenger, usually, may choose "no pref, baby,
child, pure vegetarian, vegetarian (lacto), fruit, raw, seafood, high
fiber, diabetic, low calorie, low fat/low cholesterol, low protein, low
sodium, no lactose, Asian vegetarian, Asian, Hindu, kosher, Musli, Bland."

The specifications "Asian vegetarian, Asian, Hindu, kosher, Musli, Bland"
make obvious that these data must be regarded as a category of "special
sensitive data" because they could reveal the religious or ethnic
background of the passenger.

****

So, in fact, of the 60 or so items most had to do with food, which seems
absurd since most people do not have special meals aboard.

Only the first 9 are critical.

On our trip to the US last June, leaving from Paris, the AA agent asked us
more intrusive questions, including wanting proof of car rental and hotel
reservations in the US. So things have gone will beyond "who backed your
bag,"

......Which, by the way, they no longer ask!
