Celebrity: "Solsticize It"
More from Celebrity on redo of Millennium class ships.
" The new ³Designed for you² platform has inspired us to ³Solsticize it,² the ³it² being our Millennium-class fleet. So what does that mean? Four ships. Four years. Beaucoup bucks. And a whole line-up of iconic Solstice-class features on our Millennium classŠamong them: The addition of Tuscan Grille Ice-topped Martini Bar venues, paired with Crush, whose ice-filled tables will present a selection of chilled, top-tier vodkas Café al Bacio and Gelateria, replacing the former Cova Café Bistro on Five, the popular creperie introduced on Celebrity Solstice and Celebrity Equinox As introduced on the Solstice Class, an Enomatic wine bar, the state-of-the-art, Italian designed wine serving system allowing guests to select and serve, at the touch of a button, the wines of their choice by the glass More sumptuous suites, on a par with those in the most modern hotels in Europe, with all new furniture, flat-screen TVs, upholstery, bedding and carpeting Restyled staterooms, with entirely new carpeting, flat-screen TVs, upholstery and bedding New color schemes, carpeting and upholstery reflective of Solstice Class in every public venue, from the Celebrity Theater to Seaside Grill, from the main dining room to Michael¹s Club " -- Charles |

Ice-topped Martini Bar venues, paired with Crush, whose ice-filled tables will present a selection of chilled, top-tier vodkas If it is as good as on the Solstice, it will be very cool. Loved the Martini Bar on the Solstice!! Café al Bacio and Gelateria, replacing the former Cova Café Bistro on Five, the popular creperie introduced on Celebrity Solstice and Celebrity Equinox More money making. As introduced on the Solstice Class, an Enomatic wine bar, the state-of-the-art, Italian designed wine serving system allowing guests to select and serve, at the touch of a button, the wines of their choice by the glass This wasn't on the Solstice when we were on her. Think I heard about this being on the Oasis, cool idea. sue |

I would like the wine bar! Although, mostly new revenue areas, which
I don't really care for! I thought the Solstice was pretty, but too many "for pay" areas actually! And HAL is even getting that way lately too....not loving it! Jeff |

On our recent HAL Viking cruise, I bit down on something at a restaurant in Florida the day before we sailed and aggravated a molar that a few years earlier the dentist said "if it starts bothering you, you'll need a root canal". I spent the whole cruise doubling up on Motrin and Tylenol (neither by itself was enough). The day after I got back the dentist did a root canal and said it even had in infection. Having said all that... I think, other than my pre paid tips, I had 3 drinks on my cruise bill for the week. It was the lowest cruise bill I ever remember seeing. Never even got a shirt or cap. No internet. And had no wine at dinner. Since I was kinda laying low because of the tooth ache... I didn't spend any money. And I think on Celebrity, I could probably get away just as cheaply with my Elite status and the happy hour for Elite's that Charles talked about. --Tom |

We all know the cruise lines count on the cash cows, but it would be interesting to find out what the "average over" is comparing the original price to the final bill. Would it scare us? I don't remember a cruise without some wine and an excursion or three, but maybe in my youth I kept track of the daily toll. Oh, and Tom, teeth don't fix themselves. Next time bite the bullet and chew in peace, words of advice you already knew. Harry Cooper |

Harry Cooper He did say "IF it starts to bother you you'll need a root canal". He didn't know for sure, or when. That was probably 3-4 years ago. It just picked a bad time to get an infection (though to be fair, the Norway cruise last summer would have been a much worse time). And even if the ship had a dentist, not sure if I wanted to have him/her doing a root canal. Fixing a cavity is one thing... a root canal is another thing. --Tom |

Harry Cooper Hi Harry A few years ago we were on a cruise (I don't remember which ship or line) where we had some additional onboard credit and we used up all but $2.00 or so of our credit. We thought we'd just ignore it. On disembarkation day we were paged to report to the purser's desk and they gave us a refund (I think it was a check) in the amount of the credit. Barb and I rarely drink alcoholic beverages and normally only do tours, etc. on the spur of the moment and pay cash for those things. We also have all the "stuff" we need and don't buy ship's souvenirs. We get enough of that from trivia contests, etc. Tobieon an Island in the Pacific |
