Default Where to go in Spain?

We are headed off to Spain, Portugal and Ireland and wanted to get an idea
of a great second city to go to while in Spain. We are definately going to
spend a few days in Madrid and were thinking about either Palma (Mallorca),
Barcelona or Sevilla. Porto has already been decided for Portugal. Travel is
by air so distance is not an issue. We will be in the second city for three
to four days.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. We have to finish booking and
pay for our tickets tomorrow.

Thanks to all!!

Mitch

I would recommend

Sevilla

granada

cordoba

salamanca

saragoza in that order

pls note that
sevilla / cordoba/ granada

are not far from each other and can be reached in a short time

Malaga is also worth a visit

I have not been to Barcelona, but I'd think the best choice would be Sevilla,
as Palma de Mallorca is nice, but not reallly very special, I thought.

I would go for Sevilla. Andalucia is most peoples idea of Spain.
You could visit other towns and the countryside by car from
there.
