It sounds like the flight on UA I took about 10 years back. It want from DCA to BWI and then on to DEN. I remember someone asking about the drink service on DCA-BWI leg. As remember he almost did not make it back in time for the second leg to DEN, as thought he needed to get off and get a drink. I guess he thought there was would not be any drink service on that either. It's one of the shortest air routes on the books, 35-minute flights from
one part of the sprawling Los Angeles Basin to another Aw, heck, that's way longer than ITH-ELM which I used to fly all the time on the way to or from Pittsburgh on US. The ran DC-9's PIT-ITH-ELM-PIT, or sometimes for variety, the other way. I've also flown BTV-PBG, which is only 20 miles, although it makes somewhat more sense because it takes several hours to cross the lake between them by ferry or bridge. The route was actually BOS-BTV-PBG. Before someone else mentions it, the shortest scheduled flight in the world is between the islands of Westray and Papa Westray in the Orkneys north of Scotland. It takes two minutes. I have seen a one minute trip in the OAG listed from Mulhouse to Basel, but that's cheating, because it's actually the same airport, and the most they'd do is open and close a couple of doors at the gate to change which customs line you'd go to. |

I guess if you have money to blow that is one way to do it. Michael |

In the Houston, TX area, CO used to have several flights a day to/
from Ellington Field to IAH (george Bush Intercontinental). The distance is about miles and the flight (using Embraers) lasted all about 15 minutes actual flying time. Ellington Field is NASA's airfield, (also used by the Texas Air National Guard flying F-14s I believe) located in a south eastern suburb of houston. This flight was really convenient for several reasons. parking at Ellington was plentiful, safe, and free. It saved people the boring one hour drive into IAH. Also one received the full 500 onepass miles for the short trip. People used this to connect to flights in/out of IAH and CO didnt seem to charge extra for it. Many were really disappointed when CO discontinued this service. Rumour was that they didnt want to but NASA wanted the airfield all to themselves.
