San Diego Balboa Park attractions:

San Diego Museum of Art + Sculpture Garden
San Diego Museum of Man
San Diego Museum of Natural History
Timken Museum of Art (free)
Mingui Museum (international folk art)
Automotive Museum
Aerospace Museum
Sports Museum
Museum of Photographic Arts
San Diego History Museum
Botanical Building (large lath house with tropical plants)
San Diego Art Institute
Spanish Village (a little art colony)
Old Globe Theaters
Reuben Fleet Science Theater and IMAX
Rose Garden (across from the history museum)
Cactus and Succulent Garden (next to the rose garden)
Merry-Go-Round
Organ Pavilion with free concerts on Sundays(?)
Puppet Theater
International houses (These are little buildings that are open
weekends and sell food and trinkets from countries all over the world.
For example, House of Finland, or House of Ireland, etc.)

I believe there is also a lawn bowling area, an archery range, etc.
Lots to do!

The Wild Animal Park is a long distance from downtown San Diego, and

near it, unlike the zoo which has all of the Balboa Park attractions
within walking distance..

Thanks for your comments.

What other attractions are there in Balboa Park?

Jay:
Another place to see is the Mormon Temple Gardens which is open to the public
off of Interstate 5 at Nobel Dr. The temple is a big white church that looks
like the fairy castle at Disneyland.

Poke around Scripps Ocean Institute at LaJolla.

I have to say that I went to the Birch Aquarium at Scripps while I was in
La Jolla in February, and I was disappointed. I've been to other aquariums
like Monterey Bay Aquarium and Steinhart Aquarium (San Francisco), and by
comparison, Birch was much smaller and not that impressive. If you've been
to other good aquariums, you might want to skip Birch.

You can go to one of our many local casinos. There is also the Mornon Temple
gardens which is open to the public. You can visit historic Julian. There are
several websites on San Diego and also there is a San Diego Visitors website.
