Default Travel Humour....

Two tourists from the United States were driving through Nova Scotia. As
they were approaching Tatamagouche, they started arguing about he
pronunciation of the name. They argued back and forth until they stopped
for lunch. As they stood at the counter, one tourist asked the employee,
"Before we order, could you please settle an argument for us? Would you
please pronounce where we are...very slowly?"
The blonde leaned over the counter and said ...,
"Burrr....gerrrr....Kiiiing"

Could it be to make easier for visitors that some area in Nova Scotia use
the same name for every place?

They have a bay called Pubnico and places around it are named by it. From
Pubnico Point, you go to Lower West Pubnico, on to Middle West Pubnico, then
West Pubnico, which will lead you to Upper West Pubnico, then to Pubnico.
You think you visited them all? No way. Keep driving, you will see East
Pubnico, Middle East Pubnico, Centre East Pubnico and Lower East Pubnico. If
you don't have enough yet, you can always visit the Great Pubnico lake via
the Great Pubnico Lake Road.

You can find that in a lot of places...thing is, total population of ALL of
the Pubnico's is less than a 1000 !

I told this to a guy from Halifax last night (after he gave me his recipe
for roasted harp seal flippers - the secret is boiling them with baking soda
for a few minutes to get some of the oily taste out and softening them up);
he didn't get the joke.

While he's here, his dad is doing the hunting. We had quite the lively
debate last night about hunting in general - other friends from Michigan,
Virginia and New Jersey spoke of being overrun by deer. I did meet a guy
from the Canadian Air Force - you guys have planes, too!!!
