finding funding

Hi!
A few friends and I run a small registered charity (UK) which
contributes to nursery education in The Gambia. We are not a religious
group, believing that Gambians are perfectly capable of deciding which
God to worship.
We could however do more with more money! At the moment we are helping
five village schools. Has anyone experience of this sort of work,
perhaps obtaining funding from larger international charities? We
already raise money by attending car-boot sales, scrounging from friends
and relations and begging supplies from schools in UK. We take no money
from the charity for own expenses, and pay for or own travel and
accommodation. Ideas please!
