Les nôtre bed and breakfast il loue des chambres And I thought this was an English language newsgroup. You were wrong. It's an International newsgroup, where all languages are welcome. True, most people here are English-speaking, and your chances of getting a useful reply to a question are better if you can post in English. But that's not a requirement, and nobody should be discouraged from posting in whatever language he can... ....except for spammers, of course, like this one. Spammers should be discourged from posting at all. And if they do post, posting in a language that many people here can't read is the preferred way to do it. -- Ken Blake Please reply to the newsgroup |

Nah, it's an English speakers newsgroups. I don't mind reading the odd bit of swahili stuff here, but it's 99.5% English, and should be treated as such. -- --- DFM - http://www.deepfriedmars.com --- -- |

It's true that it's overwhelmingly English, but that doesn't make it a requirement. It's an international group (as are almost all newsgroups, unless explicitly stated otherwise). You are free, of course, to read or not read whatever posts you want, choosing by language, poster, or any other criterion you like. -- Ken Blake Please reply to the newsgroup |

In practice though, it's limited to French, and the rare bit of Spanish, Italian or German. No-one would seriously post in any other language. -- --- DFM - http://www.deepfriedmars.com --- -- |

I haven't taken the time to find the founding charter to the newsgroup, but newsgroups usually have a language specified. English named groups typically have english as their designated language. True, most people here are English-speaking, and your chances of getting a useful reply to a question are better if you can post in English. But that's not a requirement, and nobody should be discouraged from posting in whatever language he can... Technically they should. It is such a rare occurance, that it really isn't a bother, but if there was a significant amount of off language traffic it would have much the same effect as commercial traffic. ...except for spammers, of course, like this one. Spammers should be discourged from posting at all. And if they do post, posting in a language that many people here can't read is the preferred way to do it. ;-) |
