Hi splinter, Hope the below information helps you. http://www.samui.org/airport/train.html == G - http://www.vtrip.info - travel guide for the destination you wish. BKK Hua Lomphong 08.05, arrives at Chumphon 14.19, take the ferry to Samui. Or continue the train trip all the way to Surat Thani, arrives there 16.20. Take the bus and ferry to Samui. http://www.thailandbytrain.com/ http://www.railway.co.th/English/index.asp Have a good time! /Nisse -- Remove the obvious part before replying by mail please! |

Southbound Train from BKK
Probably the quickets way is to take the night train to Chumphon (see schedules) (take a first class sleeper, fares are low). The train is leaving from Bangkok's main station. http://www.asia-discovery.com/Thaila.../surathani.htm You will arrive at Chumphon around 4.00 am and at daybreak the Longprayah company http://www.lomprayah.com/ have a transfer bus to their Catamaran Pier. Upon arrival at Chumphon they have their ticket office open as well as the station's snackbar, so you do not have to sit in the dark. The busride to the pier takes about 20-30 minutes. From there you have a catamaran connection to Koh Samui via Koh Tao and Koh Pagnan. The total sailing time will be around 3 - 3 1/2 hours. Another possibility is to go on to Surat Thani and from there continue to Koh Samui but I think that is not any quicker.
