Default Light Bulbs in UK

Hello, All!

Has the UK gone from bayonet to screw base light bulbs as an
advertisement on today's Guardian web page would indicate? I
suppose the advertisers might be being cheap and using an agency
picture.

Both formats are commonly available. I suspect every house would need
a mixture.

Nope! We use both in this household, and some of the newest fixtures use
bayonet fittings.

Just as a curiosity, are energy saving lamps (see pictures below) common
in the UK in these days ?

But aren't April Fool jokes traditionally supposed to cease at
noon and it was about 16:00 in the UK when I saw the ad.?
