In each place you can easily do shore excursions on your own ...

Halifax - Peggy's Cove or the Citadel or the MAritime Museum or
Alexander Keiths Brewery or you can lose money slowly (Canadian Dollars
:-) )at the Casino ... We're renting a car from the day to do much of
the above ... A 7 seater Van was about $50 American ...

St. John - Time the incoming tide right and watch the reversing falls
.... A car rental is also cheap and easy there ...

Bar Harbour - Walk a few blocks stopping in some interesting stores and
end up at Olli's Trolley for a tour of the mountain ...

All easy to do on your own ...

You might also like to visit one of the cemeteries where the Titanic
victims are buried. I know it sounds like a bit of a downer, but it
really is quite a moving experience.

So is the SwissAir Flight 111 Memorial, which is located close to Peggy's
Cove.

A walk around the Public Gardens
is something we always try to do if the weather cooperates. It really
is a very lovely spot.

St. John - Time the incoming tide right and watch the reversing falls
... A car rental is also cheap and easy there ...

Or go up to the Bay of Fundy. Not much else to do in this sleepy part
of the world.

Bar Harbour - Walk a few blocks stopping in some interesting stores and

Bar Harbour's a pretty little town. Buy your souvenirs for home here,
as there's some nice shops. If the weather's good, it's a great place
to just walk around. Another favorite seafood/lobster restaurant is
the Quarter Deck right across the street and on the corner diagonally
from the main pier.

If you feel like getting out into Nature, rent a car or take a tour
that includes Mt Dessert Island, Northeast Harbor and Cadillac
Mountain. Great scenery, especially if you bring your camera. If
you're in the mood for more ocean, book a whale-watching tour.

Have a great time. This is one of my favorite itineraries.

Which? Peggy's Cove or the Swiss Air Memorial?

The Swiss Air Memorial is a short walk from the parking lot by the road.

Peggy's Cove has a road into the little town, and a large parking area near
the large store. To get to the light house, you walk along a path, and then
out onto large stones. But you don't have to walk to the light house. The
water/boats area can be easily accessed from the road that cuts into the
little town.

If you'd like some pics of Peggy's Cove, e-mail me (take out the no spam
stuff) and I'll send them along. Peggy's Cove is really pretty. Nice ride
getting there too. And on the way back into town, they go past the Swiss
Air memorial and past the Titanic Cemetery. All are very much worth seeing.

The Memorial ... That sounds like a good quick stop ... we are planning
to do a lot ... but not a lot of walking ... like going to The Citadel
.... but not walking inside ... The Maritime Museum and Keiths Brewery
are not strenuous either ... And Peggy's Cove will be driving around
and a few quick stops at scenic areas ... The Memorial sounds like a
good fit ...
