Hotel Rwanda (excellent new film- based on true story)

Hotel Rwanda is based upon true story of the 1994 genocide/holocaust in
Rwanda - when the developed world stuck it's head in the sand as ~1
million were slaughtered. Tells the story of a Luxury Hotel manager
(connected to key players on all sides of the table) who heroically
saved/sheltered ~1000 people.

For the first time ever, we have the ways and the means to end poverty
on a global scale. It will not be too difficult to rebuild the world so
that everyone
can live in dignity and human decency. There is nothing decent or
dignified about ignoring the plight of those in the pits of poverty -
of the 24,000 who die every single day of the year (90% of whom are
children under 10) while tons of food rots in warehouses around the
world. The biggest obstacles to eliminating poverty globally are
selfishness, complacency, and ignorance.

==================

"The developed nations of the world cannot remain secure islands of
prosperity in a seething sea of poverty. The storm is rising against
the privileged minority of the earth, from which there is no shelter
in isolation and armament. The storm will not abate until a just
distribution of the fruits of the earth enables men everywhere to live
in dignity and human decency."
Martin Luther King, Jr

"Without sharing there can be no justice; without justice there can be
no peace; without peace there can be no future."
The World Teacher
